How do you feel today?

Take Ten:

Get a journal and take ten minutes to yourself to be in silence. Just think about how you feel at the very moment. What is your body saying to you? Do you feel refreshed or exhausted? Do you feel fulfilled or depleted? What emotions are you feeling? Jot those down. Next, think about the reasons behind how you feel. Consider not only the surface level or envirnomental reasons, but also the deep reasons within your heart. Again, journal your thoughts.

My Thoughts:

Often, we get so caught up in our daily responsibilities we forget to take time for ourselves. We go and go until we are spent and exhausted. Serving others and not creating space for ourselves will ultimately break us down. Rest, relaxation, and renewal should be very high on our list of daily priorities.

Up until now, this was an area where I needed much improvement. I had always proudly considered myself a "doer" and a "giver". For a reason deep within, I had the misconception that it was necessary for me to carry everything, including others' emotions, to be considered a "good" mom or wife. So daily, I carried a full-time career, did most of the household chores, made meals, did the grocery shopping, etc.; and, on top of that and more, I made sure everyone else was okay emotionally and physically. What did it get me after years and years? Exhausted, depleted, and wondering who I was. Of course, I took on an impossible task which certainly drained my energy.

Every day, find time to rejuvenate and reset for your own mental and physical health! When we are healthy, we can better help others.

Suggestions: quiet time, exercise, stretch, breathing techniques, soak in a bubble bath, read
